Dr Sarah Newman

I graduated with Honours in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Western Australia in 2010 and worked at Royal Perth and Princess Margaret Hospitals before entering general practice in 2016. I completed my Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017 and have worked in the Perth community and at Royal Perth Hospital since graduation.

I enjoy the breadth of family medicine and have particular expertise in chronic disease management, geriatrics, mental health, and headache medicine through my role as a GP with Special Interest in neurology at Royal Perth Hospital. My dedication to patients, colleagues, and community general practice has been recognised with the RACGP Registrar of the Year Award and the AMA (WA) Junior Doctor of the Year Award in 2017.

Alongside my clinical work, I am an AGPAL accreditor of general practice and am dedicated to education as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia, and a previous supervisor of GP registrars. I serve as Assistant Director of the Doctors’ Health Advisory Service WA, providing education and training for my peers in doctors’ health.

Outside of medicine, I’m a children’s book author/illustrator (Hero Hunter and the Wonky White Cells), a music lover, enthusiastic (if messy) cook, and busy chasing my two sons and planning events for my extended family and friends.
