Dr Penny Roe

I grew up in Sydney but moved to Newcastle to study medicine where I graduated with Honours and the AMA prize. I then returned to Sydney and completed my hospital training at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital doing paediatrics.

I completed a Diploma of Child Health followed by the Family Medicine Program and became a Fellow of College of GP after passing the exams in 1996. I had my son Tom in 1997 but continued to work in General Practice in the inner west of Sydney before moving to Perth in 2003 for family reasons. I have worked at Third Avenue Surgery since 2006 and for GP After Hours Mount Lawley for over 10 years.

I love all aspects of General Practice and Family Medicine but I am especially interested in Paediatrics,
Women’s Health and younger adults. I am passionate about the role of the good GP in a person/family’s life and the importance of continuity of care for patients. That is why I am so fortunate to work with so many great GP’s here at Third Avenue Surgery and GP After Hours Mount Lawley.

My grown son Tom has almost finished university and we have a boxer dog named Tessa and two cats. I love walking Tessa, waging a losing battle on the weeds in my garden, book club, movies and enjoying lots of social events with friends, family and colleagues.
